Hi Guys,
Thanks for visiting my blog website 🙂 Most of you who are visiting this site probably know me pretty well but just in case you’re curious I’ll give you an overview of this trip and me. Let me tell you something, planning a trip this big is no easy task, so why plan it at all? I mean, I’ve decided to think about some of the countries I want to go to and let the rest fall into place. No limits on time or destinations, just anywhere I’ve ever wanted to go. I guess it’s a trip of a lifetime but I’m not forcing myself to go for a certain length of time. Who knows, maybe after a few months I’ll be ready to pack it up and go home…but I don’t think that will happen. I love travelling and love to soak in what this world has to offer any chance I get. I think travelling makes you a better person overall. You get to learn more about yourself, other people, other cultures, other geographies, other everything..
Why now? Why’d I quit my job, leave all my lovely material possessions, and say good-bye to my friends and family? It’s not like I’m getting any younger and dreaming about travelling after retirement may never happen. I met a lovely couple from Australia a few months ago who told me to make this trip now before you get older, maybe you’ll loose agility, movement, have back aches, shaky knees, doing it younger when your health is good makes more sense. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone saying, “Uhh, I really hated travelling around the world, it sucked.” Ha ha. I’m someone who always worries about money, but I’ve decided to tell myself to shut up and do this now while I still can. That leads me to my first destination, India. I’ve never been to India. My first stop is Rishikesh in Northern India near the Himalayan mountain range. I’ll be checking into an ashram and learning how to mediTatum, breath, and calm my mind. I think that’s something I’m missing in everyday life and I don’t think it’ll be an easy skill to obtain but I’m up for the challenge and looking forward to being unplugged for a little while.
Why the name roaming shark? I’m known as a shark to some of my friends; it may have something to do with my ability to negotiate and my love for sharks..ha ha
I’ll be travelling by myself (for the first time), staying in hostels, and meeting up with friends where possible. I’ve run through a gamut of emotions through this entire process but right now I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I’ve prepared as much as I can and now I’m ready to tackle what this world has to offer! So wish me luck as I go into new territory and new experiences. I’ll update my pics and blog whenever I get the chance so feel free to sign up for my updates or send me a note on my contact page to say hi.
Cheers!
