Left Behind But Not Forgotten

Naturally I knew this was going to happen. I would get irritated at the weight of my backpack and start shedding things. I didn’t think it would happen so soon but it was bound to happen. I’ll be adding to this blog post as the months continue.

The first item left behind not purposely was my precious doorstopper. Not the biggest deal in the world and I can pick one up along the way but still sad that was forgotten the first night in Delhi at the airport hotel.

Now onto things purposely left behind in Rishikesh.

-Airplane pillow-we had some good times but he had to be left behind due to his bulkiness awkward type of nature. Plus he was hanging on the outside of my bag and was getting dirty. I’ve realized I can roll up a towel or sleep on a bag so bye bye airplane pillow.

-MEC grey zip up sweater. This one I was sad about but it simply took up too much room and I had a few other sweaters/longer shirts that could assist in a pinch. I feel like I just donated $80 to a good cause.

-Under Armour bright pink work out t-shirt. We had some good times working out together but in the end it wasn’t working out. I had a few other dry fit t-shirts that can be used so it wasn’t necessary to tote this one around

-Kalmis salwar top and duppata. I didn’t want to leave this one behind as I could see potential use for it in India but the thing is I don’t want to carry the extra weight when I could get away with the clothes I have. This was however promptly replaced in Panchkula when Auntie insisted on me taking a new set to my next destination and mentioned to get rid of it on my way out of India. Best to keep it on me when visiting religious sites as I do look slightly out of place without something traditional on.

-Items picked up: I desperately needed a comfy longer pair of pants to sleep in. It does get cold at night in India at this time of year. Aunty so generously donated to me a longer pair of green pants.

-No souvenirs 🙁 I’ve decided I’m irritated enough carrying my backpacks, which are full to the brim as is with all of my “survival items” and extremely heavy Lonely Planet books (India and South East Asia on a Shoe String). I don’t want to be toting around miniature souvenirs over the next year that will have no use to me. I guess I’ll have to be fulfilled with memories and pictures 🙂
